Wrexham’s James McClean lashes out at Shrewsbury fans after a tough defeat, stirring up controversy with his harsh comments on social media.
He faced a lot of jeers from the Shrewsbury crowd, which only added fuel to the fire. After the game, he tried to engage with some fans, but stewards had to step in.
Things got heated, and he even picked up a yellow card for arguing with the ref. Wrexham’s manager, Phil Parkinson, downplayed it, saying McClean is used to the pressure from fans.
But then, McClean took to Instagram the next day. He posted a pic of a Shrewsbury fan making a rude gesture and captioned it with some pretty harsh words about the town.
He called it a “cesspit full of inbreds,” which definitely raised eyebrows. McClean has had his share of controversies before, like when he didn’t wear a poppy during Remembrance Day.
He explained that the poppy means something different to him, and he doesn’t like being pressured into it. With over 625 games under his belt, he’s a seasoned player, but he sure knows how to stir the pot.
