A young woman is devastated after her suitcase arrived in Belfast missing items worth £2,000, including sentimental gifts and expensive clothing.
Leoni traveled through Manchester and made sure her luggage was 19kg before flying. But when she got to Belfast, she was shocked. Almost all her items were gone.
She lost a valuable makeup collection, a stylish handbag, and a trendy jumper. Even her favorite trainers and sentimental gifts from her grandmother were missing. All that was left in her suitcase were a pair of leggings, a lunchbox, a sports bra, and a laptop charger.
When her suitcase came out on the conveyor belt, it looked fine. But when she picked it up, it felt light. Opening it was a nightmare. “I thought it must be a joke,” she said.
Leoni rushed to the easyJet desk for help. They told her to contact Manchester Airport since the plane had already been checked. Unfortunately, Manchester confirmed they had no luggage left behind.
Feeling frustrated, she even reported it to the police. They hadn’t heard of anything like this before either. “They checked the hold and found nothing,” she explained.
This whole situation has messed with her studies. “I’ve had to put off university work to email easyJet. It’s been a nightmare,” she said. Being a third-year student, she can’t afford to replace her lost items.
Leoni was lucky to have bought travel insurance this time. “I usually don’t, but I did this time,” she shared. After a long day of travel, she’s just grateful she kept her laptop with her.
An easyJet spokesperson said they’re looking into her case seriously. They want to ensure passengers’ bags are handled securely. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is also involved.
