Aberdeen: James Watt, the BrewDog founder, is feeling the heat. He says it’s never been tougher to start a business in the UK. He blames the Chancellor’s Budget for making things harder for new entrepreneurs.

Watt, who’s been in the spotlight lately for his views on work-life balance, is launching a new reality show. It’s called House Of Unicorns, and it’s got the biggest cash prize in UK TV history—£2 million!

He’s looking for entrepreneurs to join the show. The winner will get £2 million to help grow their business. Watt is putting in £1 million of his own money, plus another £1 million from Founders Capital, which is a big player in the investment scene.

He’s teaming up with Sony and Whisper Productions to bring this show to life. Watt has previously backed several businesses through his online show, The Next Unicorn.

Over six weeks, contestants will face challenges to win that massive prize. Watt is frustrated with the usual business shows like Dragons’ Den. He thinks they rely too much on outdated stereotypes and comedy.

He wants to change the game and hopes to double the number of UK unicorns—companies valued at £1 billion or more. But he’s worried about the current business climate.

Watt believes the new Labour Government’s policies are making it harder to start a business. He said, “There are still amazing entrepreneurs in the UK, but they need support to grow.”

He’s hoping for a shift in momentum soon, as he’s seen many founders leaving the UK to start their businesses elsewhere.
