Inverurie: This town has seen quite a drop in house prices lately. According to Zoopla, it had the biggest average decline in Scotland last year.

Just a half-hour from Aberdeen, Inverurie is a popular spot for commuters. But it seems like 65% of homes lost value in 2024, averaging a drop of £4,200.

Even with its charm, the town’s property market took a hit. In contrast, Carluke in Lanarkshire saw the biggest rise in house prices in Scotland.

Carluke is just a short drive from Glasgow and has a growing population. It’s now one of the top towns for house price increases, with 82% of homes rising in value.

That’s a stark difference from Inverurie. The average increase in Carluke was £8,900, which is impressive compared to the overall Scottish average.

With a friendly community and low crime rates, Carluke is a great place to live. It offers a nice balance of town life and easy access to the city.

Richard Donnell from Zoopla mentioned that while the housing market is improving, the changes vary across the UK. Some areas are still catching up.

He noted that affordability is a big factor, especially in southern England. But in places like Scotland, there’s room for growth.

So, if you’re thinking about moving, keep an eye on these trends. It might be a good time to make a change!
