Aberdeen: A student had quite the scare today. He was evacuated from his home due to a massive fire near Pittodrie. He described it as a ‘blanket of fire’ at a garage.

The fire started around 8 AM on Merkland Road East. Fire crews rushed to the scene, and they’re still working hard to put it out. Smoke was billowing high into the sky, making it quite a sight.

Patrick Alexander, a 20-year-old student, was among those evacuated. He thought the fire alarm was just a test at first. But when he looked outside, he saw the garage completely engulfed in flames.

He said it looked like the whole place was on fire. Residents were told to leave their homes, and many waited for hours to return. Patrick mentioned he had been outside for two hours with no idea when he could go back.

Aberdeen City Council set up a rest center at Aberdeen Sports Village for those affected. They advised people to bring essential items, including medicine and warm clothes. If anyone had pets, they were told to bring their supplies too.

It’s a tough situation, but the community is coming together. Stay tuned for updates as the fire crews continue their work.
