Police confirmed a body found in the River Dee is one of the missing sisters, Henrietta Huszti. Ongoing searches continue for her sister Eliza.
Aberdeen: Police have confirmed that a woman’s body found in the River Dee is one of the missing sisters. Henrietta Huszti, 32, disappeared over three weeks ago.
Officers returned to the area where Henrietta and her sister Eliza were last seen on January 7. They had announced they would end river searches just days before this discovery.
The body was spotted in the river east of the Aberdeen Boat Club around 7:55 AM. While formal identification is pending, Henrietta’s family has been informed.
A major search operation began after the sisters went missing. Dive teams searched the river for days in freezing conditions, but both sisters remained unaccounted for.
Investigations are ongoing, but there are no signs of suspicious circumstances. Searches for Eliza, who also went missing, continue in the area.
The Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit is conducting further searches of the river and its banks today. They are focusing on the area between the Queen Elizabeth Bridge and Victoria Bridge.
Superintendent David Howieson expressed condolences to the Huszti family. He assured them that they are being kept updated on the recovery and ongoing search efforts.
He emphasized that finding both sisters remains a priority. The search will continue in the River Dee area, as there’s no evidence suggesting they left the vicinity after being seen.
Henrietta and Eliza were last spotted on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge around 2:12 AM on January 7. They crossed the bridge and headed towards the river.
Concerns about their safety led to their missing person reports later that day. Superintendent Howieson thanked the public for their support and urged anyone with information to come forward.
