Aberdeen: Wendy’s is planning to open its first restaurant in the city. The new spot will be at the old JD Sports location on Union Street.

They’re investing £450,000 to convert the shop into a fast food outlet. This move comes as more American chains, like Popeyes and Taco Bell, have recently opened in Aberdeen.

Popeyes just launched its second site at Wellington Circle, and German Doner Kebab is also on Union Street. There are even plans for a Wingstop at Union Square.

Wendy’s first UK restaurant opened in Reading in 2021. The closest one to Aberdeen is in Newcastle. Now, they want to expand into Scotland, right near other popular spots like Popeyes and McDonald’s.

Aberdeen’s high street is bustling with fast food options, including Burger King, KFC, and Subway. QSR Projects has submitted plans to the city council for the new Wendy’s location.

Wendy’s is famous for its burgers and breakfast items, like bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. They also offer Frosty milkshakes and the popular Baconator burger.

If approved, this will be Wendy’s first site in Scotland, adding to their 34 locations across England, including cities like London and Leeds.
