Northern Ireland braces for Storm Éowyn with strong winds and a weather warning in effect. Stay safe and keep updated on the latest developments.
Belfast: A weather warning is now in effect for all of Northern Ireland. The Met Office has issued a yellow alert due to Storm Éowyn.
This warning kicks in at midnight on Friday, January 24, and lasts until late that night. Storm Éowyn is the fifth named storm this season.
The forecasters say we can expect very strong winds and some serious disruption on Friday. Storm Éowyn will likely pass near the northwest UK before moving northeast on Saturday.
While the exact path of the storm is still a bit uncertain, we should prepare for some wild weather. Winds will start from the southeast, then shift to the west.
Peak gusts could hit 60-70 mph inland and even 80-90 mph along the coasts and hills. Some areas might see even stronger gusts!
On Friday, expect rain that will clear to showers, which may turn wintry. Strong winds will develop, but they should ease by Saturday.
