Aberdeen: The Met Office has named Storm Éowyn, and it’s not looking good. They’re warning of strong winds and heavy rain that could cause serious disruption.

Winds could reach up to 80mph, especially in the west. The storm is expected to hit the north-east by Friday. This is the first named storm of 2025, and it’s making quite the entrance.

Along with the winds, there’s a good chance of heavy rain sweeping across the UK. Snow might also make an appearance in parts of Scotland later this week.

The Met Office is urging everyone to stay alert. They say the winds could cause damage to buildings, power outages, and even flying debris that could be dangerous.

Travel plans might be affected too. Roads, railways, airports, and ferries could all face disruptions.

If you’re near the coast, be extra careful. Large waves can be really dangerous, even from the shore. If you’re out walking, keep your dogs on a lead and know your route.

In case of an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Stay safe out there!
