Aberdeen: ScotRail has decided to cancel all train services on Friday. This is due to the severe weather caused by Storm Éowyn. They say it won’t be safe to run trains.

The forecast shows winds could reach up to 90mph in some areas. There’s even a rare red weather warning in place for the central belt. That means extremely high winds are expected, with gusts hitting 100mph in certain spots.

Plus, there’s a yellow warning for snow across much of Aberdeenshire. So, it’s really not a good time to travel. ScotRail is strongly advising everyone to stay put.

They’ve reviewed the weather forecasts and things look worse than they initially thought. High winds can knock down trees and debris onto the tracks, making it unsafe for trains.

Once the storm passes, they’ll need to check everything for safety before trains can run again. If your journey is affected, you can use your ticket for travel until January 28. You can also get a refund on any unused tickets.

Make sure to check the ScotRail website or app for updates before heading out on Saturday. Safety is their top priority, and they’re doing everything they can to keep everyone safe during this storm.
