Gift shop and tearoom Oopsy Daisies in Merry Hill to close by February 24 after 11 years due to circumstances.
Owners said circumstances forced the closure, as the unit needs major alterations. Their last day will be February 24th. The owner said the decision was “heartbreaking.”
Beth Robins started Oopsy Daisies in 2013. It began as a small kiosk, later becoming a shop with a tearoom. She thanked customers for their support.
Beth announced the closure on Facebook, confirming it recently. Major alterations are needed in the unit, leaving them with no choice.
The last two years were hard, as they fought rising costs and health issues. They lacked resources to continue elsewhere, and while changes could have helped, the needed alterations changed everything.
Afternoon tea vouchers can be used in the shop, or spent as general vouchers. Tearoom furniture will go to charity, with some items for sale.
Beth will still take handmade orders from home. Please collect existing orders promptly. She thanked customers for their loyalty again, mentioning that they would miss everyone. The Merry Hill team received thanks as well, and she requested no nasty comments during this hard time.
Many customers shared their sadness online. One customer called it a “fabulous” shop, and another said it was a “haven of calm”. A customer said the closure was sad, while another talked of tough times for small businesses.
One person’s daughter had a birthday party there, while her son loved the sausage sandwiches. Her nan loved the afternoon teas very much, as the shop was an escape. “Thank you,” one customer wrote.
