A man got arrested. He pretended to be a cop, and he scared teenage girls on a train.

The man is 52 years old. Police arrested him at Lanyon Place station on Thursday, February 6th. He was on a train from Holywood, and people said he had a gun, approaching some young girls.

Detective Sergeant McCartan said it happened around 3:30 p.m. The man claimed to be a police officer. He approached two teenage girls at the Holywood train station.

He opened his coat and the girls saw what looked like a gun in his waistband. Then, he got on the same train as them and sat beside another girl.

He put the “gun” on his lap. The girl was very scared and got off the train fast. Train staff were alerted and escorted him off at Lanyon station.

He was waiting for the police. He pointed the weapon at staff. Police searched him and found a BB gun. They arrested him on suspicion of impersonating a police officer and possessing a firearm.

Police think he wanted to cause fear. He is now in police custody. This was upsetting for the young women, and no one should face this kind of behavior. It’s simply unacceptable.

Detectives need help from witnesses and want footage that could help. Did a man approach you and claim to be a cop in a suspicious manner? This could have been in Holywood before the 3:30 train to Belfast.
