Jaguar Land Rover started an inquiry following a Land Rover fire. The fire closed a major road for almost five hours. A dad saw his Land Rover burn.

Pankaj Verma owns the damaged Land Rover, which cost £60,000. The incident happened on January 27 on Stratford Road in Solihull.

Verma’s Land Rover was at a Land Rover repair shop for over a month. His car caught fire during a test drive after he bought it new in 2017.

After being called, Verma arrived to find police and firefighters blocking the road. The fire was quite large and caused significant disruption.

JLR is investigating the fire’s cause, working with the repair shop to understand how it happened. The repair shop was asked for their comment.

Verma, from Solihull, said his family faced great distress and fears what could have happened to them. His wife and daughter are very upset by this.

Verma wants to prevent future incidents and ensure vehicle safety. He mentioned the incident on BirminghamLive and contacted JLR for a full inquiry.

Verma said the road closed for nearly five hours, and people reported the incident online. He hopes to prevent similar issues and emphasizes manufacturer responsibility.

A JLR spokesperson confirmed their support, assisting the retailer with the inquiry. JLR will not comment until it concludes, as they investigate all circumstances.
