Medellin: Police in Colombia arrested an Irish man for allegedly trying to pay a 15-year-old girl for sex. He was caught in a hotel room with her.

The suspect, a 44-year-old from Dublin named Seamus, was taken into custody. Local police shared footage of his arrest, showing him in handcuffs as he was led to a police van.

Along with Seamus, the hotel manager was also arrested. Both men were taken to jail after a court appearance. The police chief stated that they are serious about tackling sexual exploitation.

During the police checks, the girl revealed that Seamus had offered her 160,000 pesos, about £31, for a sexual encounter. He had already given her half of that amount.

The hotel where the incident occurred has been temporarily closed. Authorities are investigating the situation further, and the hotel manager faces charges for promoting prostitution.

Medellin’s mayor has been vocal against sex tourism, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for child exploitation. He stated that they will continue to pursue those who exploit minors.

Thanks to a citizen complaint, police were able to act quickly. They are committed to protecting children and ensuring that offenders are caught and punished.
