Inverurie: A new drive-thru and electric vehicle charging zone might be coming to a local supermarket. Plans have been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council for this exciting addition.

The Morrisons supermarket on Burghmuir Drive has a big car park. But, to make room for the new features, they might have to remove some parking spaces. Motor Fuel Group, who work with Morrisons, are behind this proposal.

They want to add a fast food place to the car park. It would have indoor dining, outdoor seating, and parking for customers. Right now, Garioch town doesn’t have any drive-thrus, so this could be a great option for shoppers.

While no specific fast food chain has been mentioned, the plans look promising. They also want to include EV charging spaces with a nice canopy over them. Access to the car park will stay the same, but they might take away 55 parking spots.

The new development would add six parking spaces, including accessible bays and a click-and-collect area. Plus, there will be bike stands for staff and customers near the entrance.

The planning documents say this project could create jobs and won’t negatively impact the area. It aims to make the supermarket more attractive and useful for everyone. Sounds like a win-win, right?
