Aberdeen: A fundraiser has been launched for the family of two sisters, Eliza and Henrietta Huszti. Their bodies were found in the River Dee after they went missing.

The sisters, both 32, were last seen on January 7. Their bodies were discovered near Victoria Bridge on January 31. Floral tributes have been placed along the riverbank in their memory.

Anita Vida, a friend from the local Hungarian community, started the fundraiser. She expressed the family’s heartbreak and the need for support during this tough time.

The initial goal was £1,500, but it has already been surpassed with over 150 donations. Many contributors left messages of condolence for the family.

A search operation began after the sisters were reported missing. Their landlord received a text from them on the night they disappeared.

Police had searched the River Dee for three weeks before the bodies were found. They confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding their disappearance.

Dive teams and coastguard workers assisted in the search. Police thanked the public for their help and are in contact with the Huszti family.

To support the family, you can donate to the fundraiser.
