Gareth Ritter appeared in court. He faces charges for sexual assault and child abuse images. Ritter, 43, used to be a school leader, teaching music at Willows High in Cardiff. He also led the Ebbw Valley Brass Band.

He was known for using technology in class and won an award back in 2013. The award recognized his tech innovation that year, and he appeared on Channel 4’s “Educating Cardiff.”

Cardiff Council cannot comment right now, waiting for the court case to end. The Education Workforce Council suspended him, posting the suspension on their website.

Ritter led Ebbw Valley Brass to a championship. The band announced his resignation, citing personal reasons. They now need someone new to lead them.

WalesOnline reached out to Ritter, but he declined to comment on anything. He wouldn’t confirm his resignation, nor would he comment on the charges.

Ritter was in court in November 2024, and his case now moves to a higher court. Police confirmed Ritter’s court appearance took place November 5, 2024.

His trial will be in Cardiff Crown Court in November. He faces charges for indecent images, involving making and sharing them. Specifically, the images are of children.
