Enda McGinley finds solace in Errigal Ciaran’s second half performance despite their loss to Cuala in the All-Ireland final
Dublin: Errigal Ciaran faced a tough loss against Cuala in the All-Ireland final. It was a rollercoaster of a game, especially for coach Enda McGinley.
The first half was a nightmare. They fell behind by three goals and lost their captain, Darragh Canavan, to an injury. It felt like everything that could go wrong did.
At halftime, they were down by 13 points. McGinley thought the game was lost. But he urged his team to show their true spirit in the second half.
He said, “The first half was a disaster, but we’re not that bad.” He believed they could turn things around. And they did, showing incredible character.
In the second half, they fought back hard. Tyrone captain Peter Harte led the charge, scoring a fantastic goal. They closed the gap to just three points.
But Cuala held on, scoring a late point to secure their first senior All-Ireland title. McGinley praised his team’s effort, saying they deserved to walk away with their heads held high.
He acknowledged that the first half was tough, but the second half showed their true potential. It was a bittersweet ending to a long season.
