Enda McGinley praised the Canavan brothers after Errigal Ciaran’s thrilling win over Dr Crokes, securing a spot in the All-Ireland Club final.
Newbridge: Enda McGinley was all smiles after the match. He called the Canavan brothers’ performance “magnificent.” They scored a whopping 1-13 together. Errigal Ciaran beat Dr Crokes in a nail-biting All-Ireland Club semi-final.
It was a close game, but Errigal edged out the Kerry team by three points. Darragh Canavan and Joe Oguz scored crucial goals. Peter Óg McCartan also nailed a long-range point to push the game into extra time.
Errigal Ciaran made history as the first Tyrone club to reach the All-Ireland final. They’ll face Cuala from Dublin next Sunday at Croke Park. Exciting times ahead!
McGinley praised his whole team but highlighted the Canavan brothers. He said, “You don’t win with just a few star players.” He was impressed with their effort, especially in the first half.
He noted that the boys were well-marked but still shined. McGinley believes they have a solid team and will enjoy this win before preparing for the final.
He mentioned that the Canavans have been sharp in training. They’re talented and driven, always wanting to work hard for the team. He acknowledged that sometimes they’ve been quieter, but today they really stepped up.
Looking ahead, McGinley knows the final will be a different challenge. He’s confident the team will rise to the occasion. They have just eight days to prepare, which isn’t ideal, but they’ll make it work.
“Croke Park is a fast pitch,” he said. “It’ll be a big experience for our boys.” McGinley wants to ensure they’re mentally ready to make the most of this opportunity.
