Belfast: A man is in trouble for having explosives at his home. A judge has ordered him to get a psychiatric assessment. This decision came after police found an improvised grenade during a search at his place on Empire Street.
The man, Radoslaw Hubert Kuc, is 50 years old. He appeared in court after the police discovered various explosive materials, including potassium permanganate and black powder. He was charged with possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances.
During the court session, Kuc was handcuffed and wore a grey tracksuit. He seemed distressed and shouted that he needed a doctor. His lawyer mentioned that they are looking into his psychiatric background.
The judge, Natasha Fitzsimons, decided to keep him in custody until February 28. She expressed concerns about his behavior and ordered the psychiatric assessment. Meanwhile, residents nearby had to evacuate their homes during the police operation.
Police confirmed that they safely removed the improvised grenade from Kuc’s property.
