Derry: A touching video is making waves. It shows Deirdre Mahon, a woman from Derry, getting a surprise visit from her kids. This comes after a tough year for her.

Deirdre lost her husband, Mark, in April. So, this Christmas was especially hard for her. But her daughter Eimear flew in from Brighton to surprise her. The moment was so emotional!

The video is now a finalist in a contest by Loganair. They’re celebrating Christmas connections, and the winner gets free flights for a year. How cool is that?

Deirdre shared her feelings, saying, “I was dreading this Christmas. But my kids turned it into a beautiful time filled with love.” It’s heartwarming to see how family can lift your spirits.

Later that day, Deirdre got another surprise. She went to her sister’s house and found her son Odhrán, who had come from London. What a lovely family reunion!

Deirdre had been worried about spending the holidays alone in the home she built with Mark. But her kids made sure she felt loved and supported.

As a finalist, Deirdre has a chance to win free flights for herself and a companion. Two runners-up will also get return flights on a scenic route. Sounds like a great prize!

Lyn MacDonald from Loganair praised Deirdre’s story. She said it perfectly captures the spirit of connection during the holidays. It’s all about those special moments with loved ones.

Loganair offers flights from City of Derry Airport to London Heathrow. If you want to support Deirdre, you can vote for her on the Loganair Facebook page. Voting is open until January 23, 2025.
