Bellaghy: A couple in Co Derry is feeling devastated. Their wedding money was stolen during a break-in. It happened just before Christmas, which makes it even worse.

Ciara was out shopping on December 12. When she got home, something felt off. Her key wouldn’t turn in the lock. At first, she thought she broke it. But then her partner came home and noticed more damage.

They found the back window smashed and money missing. This was money they saved for their wedding. Ciara said they just moved there, and now they feel uneasy.

She shared, “We’re getting married in July 2026. Thankfully, it’s not this year. But it’s still upsetting. I had a separate pot for my wedding dress, and that’s gone now.”

Ciara’s sister, Eimear, started a GoFundMe to help with repairs and security. She wrote about the distress this has caused. The couple needs support from their community.

The police are looking into the burglary. They want anyone with information to come forward. It’s a tough situation, and Ciara hopes no one else has to go through this.
