Winter is fading in Wales. Sunny days feel more likely now. You might enjoy spring. A Cardiff cycle trail could be perfect. It’s about 5.6 miles long.

The trail follows two rivers and takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The end is a nice Welsh spot where you could have a picnic.

A tea room is near the start. It’s called Pettigrew and they are closing soon, at the end of spring, so visit before they close up.

Cycle through Bute Park towards Llandaff Fields. Spring colors are beautiful there, but watch for people walking; you might need to get off your bike.

The ride to Llandaff Fields takes less than ten minutes. You will ride along the River Taff, where you can enjoy the water sounds, feel the breeze, and see the green.

At Llandaff Fields, explore around, or you can keep cycling to Llandaff Cathedral. The paths have nice trees along the sides.

Llandaff Cathedral dates back to the 12th century. Cardiff has only two cathedrals. It’s open daily except Sundays with the following schedule: Weekdays: 8am to 5:30pm; Sundays: 8am to 4pm. Visit for history and beauty.

Next, you’ll see the River Ely. You are now on the Ely trail. There are trees overhead for providing shade and spring will bring lush green views.

Now, a 2.2-mile city section exists, which takes about 20 minutes to cycle. Roads include Ely Road and Western Ave N, so be careful of cars.

Back on the Ely Trail, you’re by a river. The city noise fades as you ride. The River Ely sounds are calming, and trees surround the path.

The trail has flat areas and slopes where you can get good exercise. Look at riverside nature from a safe spot.

In spring, see green spaces and flowers. The final stop is truly great because the Ely Trail leads to St Fagans museum.

St Fagans National Museum of History awaits and it has bike parking. Rest and explore the free museum because several sights are to be seen.

The museum features over 40 buildings where homes and a school were moved. There is a pub, markets, and workshops, all on 100 acres.
