Aberdeenshire: The council is moving fast to demolish Gordon House. They want to prevent vandalism and keep the area safe.

It’ll take about eight months to finish the job. They first announced the plan last November. The cost for the demolition is around £500,000.

Recently, the council updated everyone on the progress. They hoped to close the site by December, but it’s been pushed back a bit. Demolition is set to start in March and should wrap up by November.

The team is making good progress clearing out the building. The Service Point will be the last to leave. They want to secure the site until demolition day.

A new Service Point will open at 93 High Street. Council leader Gillian Owen stressed the need for a quick demolition. She mentioned past issues with vandalism at other empty buildings.

Owen recalled the old Ellon Academy, which faced fires and broken windows. That’s why they’re acting fast this time. An empty site will also be easier to sell later on.
