Aberdeen: The city is set to revive its whisky heritage with the new Bon Accord Distillery. The planning application has been approved for the site on Greyhope Road.

This distillery will be located on the historic grounds of the former Bon Accord Drinks factory. It aims to blend the city’s rich past with a fresh era of whisky production.

Bon Accord Distillery will produce high-quality single malt Scotch whisky. It will also be a visitor attraction, featuring guided tours, tasting sessions, and interactive exhibits.

The project highlights Aberdeen’s brewing and distilling history. It honors the Bon Accord legacy while providing an economic boost to the city.

Currently, Fierce Beer is the only brewery in the city, nearing its 10th anniversary. Davis Gonnella, the Brand Director of Bon Accord Distillery, is excited about the project.

He mentioned that this venture is about more than just whisky. It aims to create a lasting legacy for Aberdeen, support local businesses, and attract visitors.

Gonnella added that the distillery will feature a section for local food businesses to showcase their products. This will highlight the best of north-east Scotland’s produce alongside quality whisky.

The distillery plans to collaborate with Fierce Beer and renowned chef John Chomba, who will serve as Managing Director. This partnership aims to enhance the food and drink scene in Aberdeen.

Construction is set to begin this summer, and the distillery will incorporate renewable energy and eco-friendly practices. Whisky lovers can look forward to a new landmark on Aberdeen’s waterfront.

As the first casks are laid down, the Bon Accord Distillery will help put Aberdeen back on the whisky map. The economic impact is expected to be significant.

The distillery will create jobs during construction and provide long-term employment once operational. It will also benefit local businesses and boost tourism.

Davis emphasized that Aberdeen is a city of innovation and resilience. The distillery aims to capture that spirit and share it with the world, one dram at a time.

He expressed delight in reviving the Bon Accord name, reflecting both the city’s storied past and its promising future.
