Aberdeen: Exciting news for the city! A whopping 44 stunning vessels are set to join The Tall Ships Races in 2025. This means Aberdeen will host the largest fleet ever for this world-class event.

Organizers are aiming for 50 Tall Ships to dock at the Port of Aberdeen. Imagine the harbor filled with masts and thousands of visitors enjoying the festivities!

With less than six months to go, the excitement is building. Seventeen magnificent Class A Tall Ships are already confirmed, and the event runs from July 19 to 22.

Race registration is open until May 1. Some recent sign-ups include the Mexican Navy ship ‘Cuauhtémoc’ and Poland’s ‘Fryderyk Chopin’. There’s also ‘LOA’, a beautiful three-masted schooner from Denmark.

The Tall Ships Races will take the fleet through several ports, including Le Havre and Dunkirk, before arriving in Aberdeen. It promises to be an unforgettable summer celebration!

Vanessa Mori, Deputy CEO of Sail Training International, shared her excitement. She believes Aberdeen’s rich maritime history and warm hospitality make it the perfect spot for these incredible ships.

This year marks the return of The Tall Ships Races to Aberdeen after nearly 30 years. It’s expected to be Europe’s largest free family event, drawing around 400,000 visitors over four vibrant days.

Councillor Martin Greig highlighted the significance of the event. With 44 ships confirmed, it’s a tremendous boost for the local economy and culture.

Bob Sanguinetti, CEO of Port of Aberdeen, expressed delight at the response from the Tall Ships fleet. He can’t wait to welcome the international crews to experience all that Aberdeen has to offer.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, is thrilled about the event. He envisions the harbor transforming into a stunning forest of masts, bringing thousands to the city.

There’s already a buzz of enthusiasm, with over 900 people applying to volunteer and 300 aspiring sail trainees eager to join the crews. Applications for trainees and volunteers close on January 31.

To help local businesses prepare, organizers are hosting a free webinar on February 18. It’ll offer practical advice and a Q&A session. Registration is essential!
