A message from Gareth Nation

Welcome back! We’ve had a fun filled start to the final term of this academic year.

Swimming is underway and I joined the children for part of their first session last week. It is lovely to see them enjoying the lessons. Thank you to the staff for ensuring the new arrangements have gone so smoothly.

This week was the last cricket lesson of the year. The coach informed me what a pleasure it was to work with your wonderful children and that he looks forward to working with us again next year. Well done children - you made a real impression!

The ‘start of the day’ arrangements are working brilliantly and the children are more settled and focused in the mornings. Can I please remind you that all pupils must be in class for the register at 8:55 am so they are ready to start their day.

A Message from Mr Nation

Last week was Science Week and what a week it was! The staff went above and beyond to ensure the children had a fun and engaging time. A special thank you to Mrs Auton for her efforts - Mrs Auton put on quite a show! Mrs Tomasik has very kindly organised for an author to visit Beech Class on Friday the 29th. Ally Kennen (author of The Everything Machine, Sparks, My Great Viking Adventure and Spooks) will be hosting a writing workshop for upper KS2 children. In addition, she will be signing books on the day and there will be an opportunity to purchase her books at a discounted price of £5. On Saturday 8th March, Oscar and Ethan took part in the 2K Junior Grizzly. Emily, Jonathon and Izzie ran in the Grizzly Fun Run. All the children did incredibly well on a tricky route that includes running across the pebbles on the beach! Louis, now in Y7, came 1st in his age group and 7th overall in the 4K run! Well done to all of our runners! Enya and Oscar starred at the Holyrood Cross Country representing the school. They did us proud! Thank you to parents for transporting the children and for their support. We’re keen to set up additional  music sessions for the children. If your child/chldren would like drumming lessons, please get in touch. We need approximately 10 children to make this viable. I know Buckland St. Mary is fortunate to have the support of parents and the local community. To this end, if there are any volunteers who would like to assist in the nursery over the next two weeks, please get in touch with me via the school office. Finally, I’d like to remind everyone that class registers are taken at 8:55 am so the school day can start at 9:00 am prompt. Please ensure your child/children are in school on time to minimise any disruption to the start of the day. Thank you in advance for your support with this.  Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
