A Message from Helen Woodhams

It’s always good at the end of a term to reflect on all the great things that have taken place and that is certainly the case here at Buckland St Mary CofE Primary School. This week was our Easter Service and it was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents and members of the community supporting the event. I thought the children’s performances were superb as they told the story of Holy Week and sang so beautifully. Many thanks to the teachers and Reverend Jim for rehearsing the children so well. We are also looking to our final celebration assembly today which we will also be holding in the church. This will include a special diocese tradition- an affirmation of my position as Head of School and we will be joined by members of the church community and Simon Billington, the Chair of our LAB. This term, we have also had many successes in public speaking, sports events and singing at the Chard Area Concert. The children continue to enjoy their forest school days; where we see children thrive, developing their leadership and team working skills. FOBs have also been busy organising numerous events and raising lots of money which makes such a difference to our school. We are really looking forward to transforming our library. It really is an exciting time here at Buckland and it’s fantastic to see new families are choosing to join the school throughout the year. Spring is often a time for new beginnings and some of our staff have decided to pursue their dreams as drama coaches, pilates instructors and church accompanists. We wish Brenda, Frances and Lucy well in their chosen careers. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Gemma Evans and Mrs Helen Brumpton to our school. They bring with them both enthusiasm and experience, and along with Mrs Cutts who started this week, they will be a very welcome addition to our team. Looking forward to next term I will be holding another ‘tea and chat’ event. Please do come along and meet with both myself and other parents as we discuss plans for the future of our school. In particular, I will be sharing with you how we are responding to our recent OFSTED visit and ensuring that the children receive the best education. In the meantime, may I wish everyone a lovely Easter and hope you all have some special time with your families. Helen Woodhams, Head of School  Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
